A federal lawsuit has been filed against Governor Tim Walz claiming that executive orders are "unconstitutional" and violate their rights.

According to Bring Me the News, on May 6th, a 40 page lawsuit was filed in federal court calling for Gov. Walz to end the executive orders that shut down churches and many businesses. The group that filed the suit include an indoor mini golf course, a chain of Hallmark stores, a salon and two churches. In the lawsuit, it states that the Governor "selectively" shut down the States economy. The lawsuit also claims that the orders violate the First, Fifth, and 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

The Lawsuit states that businesses and their owners have suffered "severe damages" as result of the orders, which "allow others to operate despite the threat posed by their operation in the midst of COVID-19". Part of the lawsuit includes that while Big Retail stores are open, the local Hallmark stores have to remain closed, indoor amusement parks are closed but golf courses and bait shops are operating, animals can be taken to the groomed but one can't go to a salon or barber shop, and liquor stores are still open but individuals can not attend in-person church services.

This is not the first lawsuit of similar nature, according to KSTP, the Free Minnesota Small Business Coalition filed a similar lawsuit as well.
