Last night we loaded up the grandchildren and went to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train in Waseca. Their route last night was Rochester, Owatonna, Waseca and Janesville. If you've never experienced the Holiday Train, you're missing out. The train is completely decorated in Christmas lights from the engine to the final car. When it arrived in Waseca it ended up stopping downtown, much to the delight of the huge crowd of people that had gathered along the tracks. The side of one of the cars opened into a stage for Kira Isabella and Doc Walker to perform on. In the short time they were there they rocked the crowd to their renditions of Christmas songs and the kids got to see Santa Claus. My family and I really enjoyed this fun winter event, especially since the weather was so warm. The last time I saw the Holiday Train was a couple of years ago in Waseca and the temperatures at that time were below zero.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be making stops at several other towns within easy driving distance over the next few days. According to their website, "CP's train of lights provides a platform to speak about the needs of North American food banks. This is why we are challenging all our event attendees to reach into their cupboards and donate quality nutritious food items to help raise food for those who need it most this holiday season," according to Katharine Schmidt, executive director of Food Banks Canada. You can find out more at the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train website.
