The day's weather started out a little doubtful but ended with a perfect summers evening that helped wrap up a summer’s worth of Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Nights. It was also the Car Club Showdown, with several car clubs vying for the ridiculously huge, one-of-a-kind, custom made trophy. The massive trophy, created by Community Co-op's Bill Kubinski, is really a fully functional grill, complete with grill accessories, a full propane tank, mounted on a red wagon with oversized tires and a diamond-plated interior. Last year the Faribo Drag Ons took home the trophy, this year the Sundowners Car Club out of Northfield walked away with the prize.

Many cars and trucks lined Central Avenue, overfilling three blocks of the downtown. Hopefully you were able to get downtown to see all these vehicles, as there was quite a variety makes and models. This event was the largest Car Cruise that Faribault Main Street has hosted this summer. It was also the last one for the summer in downtown Faribault but don't worry, they're having a special Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night on September 15, during Faribault Harley-Davidson's 40th Anniversary Celebration.

Once again, I had a great time playing the oldies and talking with old friends and making new friends before wrapping things up a little after nine o’clock. I’ll see you next May when we rev up another season of Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Nights.
