Owatonna High School baseball managed to beat Rochester Century last Friday 3-2 despite being held to one hit. In Thursday's rematch at Mayo Field, the Huskies collected just three hits and lost 6-0. The latter of the two games counted in the Big Nine standings, dropping the defending league champ Huskies to 2-3 in those games.

Century pounded out ten hits, including five doubles and scored in four of the six innings that they batted. The Panthers scored a couple of unearned runs off OHS errors. Panthers senior right-handed pitcher Andrew Miller threw the complete game, striking out six and allowing just one Owatonna player to reach third base.

The Huskies offensive highlight was junior Ethan Walter beating out an infield single in the sixth after hitting the ball deep into the hole at short stop. Panthers junior and Major League prospect Mac Horvath made a good play to get to the ball but his throw wasn't in time to keep the speedy Walter from reaching first. Walter advanced to second on a ground out and stole third but was stranded there.

Owatonna (5-3 overall) plays Maple Grove in St. Cloud Friday. Then faces Duluth East and St. Cloud Apollo Saturday.

OHS softball earned a 10-4 conference win over Century, getting fourteen hits. Ana LaDuke went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's. Lanie Schuster drove in two. Anna Vetsch, Parris Hovden and Patty Biegert each had two hits and an RBI. Hovden threw the complete game, allowing six hits and striking out nine.

Blooming Prairie softball split a doubleheader with United South Central. BP won the first game 8-3. Riauna Bishop threw the complete game allowing just one earned run. Julia Worke had two doubles and drove in two runs. The Rebels won the second game 5-3.

The Rebels swept the Awesome Blossoms in baseball 5-1 and 14-6. BP had a combined ten errors in the two games.

NRHEG baseball topped Maple River 6-4. Jake Tasker got the pitching win. Sawyer VanMaldeghem earned the save and went 2-for-4 at the plate driving in a pair of runs. Spencer Tufte went 3-for-3 for the Panthers, who play a makeup game Friday at WEM.
