Not sure if we should be proud of this one or not?

For the most part I don't drink unless an occasion (or let's be honest a situation/bad day) calls for it. I wouldn't consider myself an avid binge-drinker either but I do like a beer or two with my pizza from time to time. According to the CDC, the definition of binge drinking is four or more drinks on a single occasion for women and five or more for men — and heavy drinking, consisting of eight or more drinks per week for women and 15 or more for men.

I bring this up because 24/7 Wall St. recently published the drunkest and the driest cities in the country and holy cow are there a lot in the Midwest, more specifically the upper Midwest. That's right, some of the drunkest cities are located right here in Minnesota, Iowa and (shocker alert) Wisconsin. In fact, those Sconnies can stake claim in the drunkest cities in the nation with Madison, Appleton, Eau Claire and Green Bay all in the top 4. Plus, Green Bay leads the way with "Some 26.5% of adults in Green Bay drink excessively, making it the only metro area in Wisconsin with a higher excessive drinking rate than the statewide average of 26.2%," according to the article.

Having said that, Minnesota and Iowa aren't much better because we still make the top 20 several times with Ames, IA at #19, Dubuque, IA at #14, Iowa City, IA at #13, Mankato, MN at #11, La Crosse-Onalaska MN-WI at #10 and finally Fargo-Moorhead MN-ND at #5.

Unfortunately, no one from the Midwest made the list of driest cities in America. I guess that shows we also know how to have a good time!
