Christmas City Express Roars Back To Life This Weekend In N. Minnesota
If you don't have any other plans after Thursday's Thanksgiving, maybe a trip to the North Shore is in order. The Christmas City Express is back for 2021, after a hiatus due to COVID-19, and the festive train rides begin again this weekend.
The Christmas City Express is a book, that has inspired the now popular train ride that operates in November and December in Duluth, Minnesota. If you are interested in going, know that each performance and train ride is about 90 minutes long and includes a reading of the book The Christmas Express at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and then you hop on the train for a ride.
The Lake Superior Railroad Museum website states that after the reading you'll get to "enjoy carolers and a visit from a special guest! Then you'll climb aboard the train for a 30-minute ride up to Lake Superior. Onboard, enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday tunes."
The train only runs on the weekends through December 19th, so there is a pretty small window of opportunity if you wanted to participate this year. The Lake Superior Railroad Museum's website lists the times for the shows, but there are 4 shows on Friday nights beginning at 4:15PM, 5 shows on Saturdays beginning at 3:15PM, and 4 shows on Sundays starting at 3:15PM.
This might be just the thing to put you in the holiday mood, as you've also got Bentleyville going on in Duluth too, in years past there was a shuttle that took you to both the museum and Bentleyville, that isn't operating this year, just an FYI.
More information about both holiday events can be found here and here.
