The 2020 Young Life Cake Auction will go on with a different format due to social distancing guidelines. The auction will be online only with bidding beginning Friday, April 17 and continuing through Saturday, April 18. Kat Kountry 105 will present a modified broadcast on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. More than 40 years ago the event began as a KRFO radio promotion to raise money for a local charity.

Gone is wandering around the Owatonna High School gym, gaping at the incredible, delectable creations of sugar, flour, and ingenuity. Bidders had to decide if they would eat their cake or set it out as the artwork that it was.

What's not gone is the impact Young Life makes on students. In a letter to supporters, Owatonna Young Life director Lindsay Thompson stated, "In times like these, we are reminded of the importance of our mission to walk alongside of kids and share the love of Jesus with each one of them."

She also indicated, "This fundraiser is a critical piece to our annual budget." Start your online auction experience at www.owatonna.younglife.org. Bidding begins at 12 pm on Friday, April 17 and concludes at 12 pm and 2 pm on Saturday, April 18.

Thompson will conduct some Facebook Live aspect to the auction. Go to their Facebook page here. There are over 100 great auction specials to review. Go to the auction site to review the many great items.

Virtually everything you see in these photos is edible except the tables the cakes are sitting on.
