According to the Minnesota Report Card website, over 9,500 kids throughout the state of Minnesota that are school age are homeless.  Breaking that down a bit more to Rochester, 323 students enrolled in the Rochester Public School district are homeless.

Kaylie Brase and Sidney Williams, two girls that are part of American Heritage Girls Troop 0521, were concerned about the kids that these numbers represent.  They decided that something needed to be done to make sure that kids stay warm this winter.

Clothed With Kindness is an event they designed and they are inviting everyone in the community to help with this cause.

  • What:  Winter clothing drive - collecting all things winter!  Snow pants, coats, boots, gloves and socks of all sizes.  Items can be new or gently used - no rips or stains, please.
  • When: Thursday, December 7th
  • Time:  6:30pm - 8:00pm
  • Where:  People’s Energy Co-op Conference Center (1775 Lake Shady Avenue South, Oronoco, MN 55960)

Other special items of fun for the night include drawings for cool prizes (like a Flapdoodles gift card!) and a performance by the Sweet Adelines at 7 pm.  The girls have also set up a coloring contest with a prize attached...even for adults.  Snacks are available too.

Items donated will be given to United Way of Olmsted County.
