St Paul (KROC AM News) - State officials are putting together a program that will be used to accept and process applications from Minnesota’s “COVID 19 frontline workers” who are eligible for bonuses.

The legislature approved the bonus funding bill last week and it was signed immediately by Gov. Tim Walz.

Officials say once the application process begins, eligible workers will have 45 days to apply for a bonus. Employers included in the program will have 15 days to provide notice to all current workers who may be eligible of the assistance available to them and how to apply for payments.

Officials say each eligible applicant will be provided with an equal payment, not to exceed $1,500.

Officials estimate the program will compensate more than 650,000 Minnesotans and cost $500-million.
