Though Dokken's classic lineup reunited for a handful of shows in 2016, one thing that did come out of the reunion was some new music. A track called "It's Just Another Day" was penned during that period and the foursome of Don Dokken, George Lynch, Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown have just released a video for the song.

The clip opens at a photo shoot with Brown cracking a joke about the band shooting a video. The video, shot this past January with director Jamie Brown, is their first in twenty years. The video itself is a performance piece, with the band's playing occasionally haunted by visions of their past.

Speaking with Ultimate Classic Rock, who premiered the video, bassist Jeff Pilson who co-wrote the track with guitarist George Lynch stated, “Don came in and sang it in a very quick session -- it was a couple of hours. He had most of the lyrics in his head and he didn’t even write them down. Most of the melodies were kind of prepared, but it just kind of flowed, and we just bounced off of one another and it happened very quickly. I threw the harmonies on and we were done. It was that quick.”

Pilson said Dokken's primary input was asking for the track to be faster. "We said okay, and we tried that and we agreed with him," Pilson recalls. "It was like, Wow, that’s a great idea. We brought it up quite a bit in tempo and it was great.”

Pilson, who served as a producer on the audio portion of the band's Return to the East Live, added, "I wanted to end up with the best raw energy that we could," he notes. "When you take a band that hasn’t played together in 20 years, you’re not going to get one of those tight performances that a band has been on the road for a while has. I mean, when I do Foreigner projects, we’ve been playing together a long time and it’s really tight and every little detail is pretty much worked out. There’s a lot of spontaneity in Foreigner as well, but because the basic skeleton of it is so tight, it falls together very easily.”

Though the band played the dates in 2016, Don Dokken has expressed his desire to play with the current-day lineup of the band. Lynch and Pilson have both been open to the possibility of doing more, but both musicians have their plates full with their other projects.

Dokken's Return to the East Live 2016 will be released April 20 on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, vinyl and digital download. "It's Just Another Day" will be included on the set. You can pre-order the set here or visit the Pledge Music pre-order for additional incentives.
