Listen to Jeff Lynne’s New ELO Album, ‘Alone in the Universe’

Jeff Lynne is offering Electric Light Orchestra fans an early opportunity to hear his latest album under the ELO banner, Alone in the Universe.

The full-album stream, which you can listen to below, was premiered by NPR, and follows a string of single-track leaks that started with the record's first single, "When I Was a Boy," and continued with "When the Night Comes" and "One Step Out of Time."

As previously reported, the Nov. 13 release of Alone in the Universe snaps a nearly 15-year drought between new ELO projects from Lynne, who suggested in a press release that the album could serve as a summary for the body of work he's assembled throughout a distinguished career.

"Music is such a powerful force in our lives," he said. "A good song can make people feel much less alone in this universe. And trying to create one of those songs somehow makes me feel less alone too. My whole life — from being that kid with a dream in Birmingham right until today — proves how much music can do."

Lynne has also gone on record as saying that the audience's response to his return to the stage as ELO for a 2014 Hyde Park gig let him "feel the love" that inspired the recording of Alone in the Universe, and he's already making good on his promise to play more live dates with the current version of the band. On Nov. 9, Lynne's ELO will play Porchester Hall in London, delivering what's being billed as an "intimate show" that should serve as a prelude to more concerts in 2016.
