On Sunday, the sun was shining, there was a nice breeze, and I opted to take advantage of the good weather and take a stroll at one of my favorite places in Faribault, the River Bend Nature Center.

After being cooped up in the house all winter and a very dreary start to the spring, I was more than ready to stretch my legs and take in the sights and sounds of the River Bend Nature Center's many trails.

Often times, when we discuss beautiful landscapes, we automatically think of palm trees and the ocean, or snow-covered mountains in the distance. And yes, those are beautiful sights, but there is a lot to take in locally too. Sunday’s weather was perfect for exploring the River Bend Nature Center and being reminded just how pretty this area is. Just a day before my visit, the River Bend hosted one of their annual events, the Maple Syrup Fun Run, and played host to people both locally and visiting the community.  While it’s fun to dream of far off places, sometimes it’s nice to get out and enjoy something just a short drive away! If you haven't been to the River Bend Nature Center recently, spring is a great time to take a stroll, connect with nature, and remind yourself of how lucky our community is to have such a wonderful outdoor space.

The mission of the River Bend Nature Center is " to help people discover, enjoy, understand, and preserve the incredible natural world that surrounds us." Learn more about the River Bend and upcoming events and programs at their website, rbnc.org.
