Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The National Weather Service is saying heavy rain is expected for today and into tonight, with localized widespread flooding likely for some.

They are reporting that much of SE Minnesota, NE Iowa and SW Wisconsin is in a Flash Flood Watch until tomorrow at 7 am. Amounts from 2 to 6 inches are anticipated with locally high amounts possible. The NWS also indicates that rapid rises on rivers, creeks and other drainage areas will also occur, leading to an additional flooding threat. Areas of SW Wisconsin and NE Iowa have already received several inches of rain over the past week and any additional rainfall will likely result in more flooding.

The National Weather Service also said this is a potentially dangerous situation, especially in those locations that are currently, or have recently had heavy rain and flooding.

Anyone living near rivers and streams is being advised to keep close tabs on the weather forecasts and conditions over the next day.
