The Faribault Falcons fastpitch team won both games of a doubleheader at Alexander Park today.  The Falcons captured the first game 8-7 and won the second 8-5.

Faribault eighth grader Alayna Simon was in the pitching circle for both contests.  In the first game she had 1 strikeout, 1 walk and allowed 11 hits.

The Tigers had a 7-4 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning when the inning started with an error off a ball hit by eighth grader Jamie Adamek who had a double and single in her previous two at bats.

Freshman Olivia Smith stroked a single.  With one out senior Alli Velander clubbed a 2 RBI double.  Freshman Emma Minnick reached base on an error allowing Velander to score on the play.  Freshman Riley Sietsema hit a ball resulting in an error allowing Minnick to score the walk off winning run.

In the second game Simon allowed 9 Tigers hits with no strikeouts and 1 walk.  She was very impressive in change of speeds and location of pitches all around the zone.  Up and down, inside and outside.  Virtually never the same location with her pitches.  It did appear she was getting tired leaving some pitches up in a 3 run Albert Lea 5th inning.

Simon retired the side in the sixth inning on three pitches.

The first batter in the 7th for the Tigers hit the ball about as hard has you can back to the pitcher.  Simon caught the smoking line drive.  The #9 batter clubbed a single to right and gained second base on a error.

There was a groundout for the second out before Albert Lea made things interesting with a single following by a intentional walk to load the bases.

The #3 batter in the Tigers order was smacking the ball all day prompting the intentional walk decision.

Faribault took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.  Freshman Reagan Drengenberg singled and stole second base.  Adamek hit an RBI double.  Olivia Smith stroked a single.  Adamek was thrown out at home trying to score.

Senior Makenna Smith hit a solid single scoring her sister.  Velander had a single.  Minnick hit a RBI single.  Sietesma reached on a single.

Eighth grader Gabby Boevers single brought in Minnick for the 5th run in the inning.

Albert Lea scored two runs in the 4th inning. 3 runs in the 5th inning to tie the game.

Grabbing the scoreboard operator scorebook Drengenberg had 2 hits, an RBI and stolen base.  Adamek clubbed two hits in the second game with an RBI double.

Olivia Smith had two singles in the first game and 4 hits including a double in the second contest.  Makenna Smith got 3 hits, an RBI and stolen base.

Velander finished the day with 3 hits, 4 RBI.  Minnick also had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.

Sietsema 2 hits and a RBI.  Boevers 2 hits 2 RBI.  The Falcons had 7 hits the first game, 15 hits the second game.
