The Faribault Falcons boys hockey team defeated the Austin Packers 6-1 in Austin yesterday.  The Falcons peppered the net with 58 shots while the Packers attempted 32 shots on goal.

Six different Faribault players scored goals in the game.  Junior Kory Johnson (2) started the scoring 7:38 into the game assisted by senior Noah Murphy (8).  The Falcons scored 7 seconds into the second period when sophomore Grady Goodwin (6) tallied an unassisted goal to double the lead. At 11:20 junior Luke Vinar (2) buried the puck following assists by junior Jordan Nawrocki (8) and Noah Murphy (9).

Faribault doubled their total scores in the third period to skate away from the Packers.  2:40 into the period sophomore Zach Slinger (11) was assisted by Goodwin (4).  At 9:17 junior Zach Siegert (17) connected on an unassisted goal.

Austin spoiled the shutout bid by Spencer Ell by scoring with 2:59 to go in the game.

The Falcons scored their final goal with :59 seconds to go when Noah Murphy (4) scored unassisted.

Both teams came up empty on the power play.  Faribault was 0 for 5, Austin 0 for 4.

With the win Faribault is 9-3-1.  Austin fell to 1-9.

The Falcons host Albert Lea Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.  The Packers see Minnesota River come to Riverside Arena in Austin for a 7:30 p.m. start.
