May is Small Business Month in Minnesota, and in celebration the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce each year selects three local businesses to be honored for service to Faribault.

The 2017 Business of the Year is Faribault Harley-Davidson.

This is their 40th year in business and I can see Bob Hofmeister smiling from heaven and full of pride for his daughter, Ann, who has taken over the reigns of the business and led it to new heights.

Faribault Harley employs 35 people in their 28,000-square-foot facility. They not only sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles but also have clothing, aftermarket accessories and more. The more includes motorcycle rider training, motorcycle rental and host so many worthwhile events at their location in Faribault.

They've hosted the Ride For Hospice since its inception. They have a HOG chapter and a women's rider group. In September you don't want to miss their 40th anniversary celebration.

The 2017 Small Business of the Year has been in Faribault for more than six decades.

Erickson Furniture in downtown Faribault is truly at the heart of a lot of homes in the area.

Paul Erickson is keeping the family tradition of offering a great variety of furnishings to meet anybody's pocketbook.

The showroom is 16,000 square feet and Erickson's also has two local warehouses totaling 20,000 square feet so they can provide a large selection of furniture in a variety of styles.

The New Business Spotlight shines on Crack of Dawn bakehouse and market at 209 Central Ave. in downtown Faribault.

Crack of Dawn has barely cracked past dawn; they've been in business just a year. Lori and Chris Momberg are the owners of the bakehouse and farmer's market style shop.

Everything is made from scratch each day with real ingredients. That means quality and freshness.
