The Faribault Falcons defeated Albert Lea 62-46 in Section 1AAA Quarterfinal action at Nomeland Gym Wednesday night.  It was the final home game for five Falcon seniors.  Those five seniors were also named our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game.  Rachel Hanson, Grace Amacher, Lauren Isaacson, Megan Gehrke and Bre Bresnahan.

Four Faribault players finished with double digit games.  Amacher and Hanson had 15 and 11 points each. Isaacson added 10 points and junior Abby Van Ryn tallied 10 points.

Faribault had nine three point baskets in the game led by Hanson's three.  Van Ryn had two, Amacher two and Isaacson two.  The Falcons cruised to a 41-20 halftime lead.

Faribault was 9 of 11 from the free throw line and Albert lea 3 of 11 from the charity stripe.

Falcon Head Coach Bill Bardal probably wasn't too excited about his team's 16 turnovers in the game.

Albert Lea senior Rachel Rehnelt was the only Tiger in double figures with 11 points.

Albert Lea ended their season 4-23 and Faribault is now 15-12.

In other Section 1AAA tournament action Wednesday night Austin defeated Kasson-Mantorville 59-40 and now plays Saturday 6:30 p.m. in the Mayo Civic Arena against top seed and Big Nine Conference Champion Northfield.

Red Wing rolled past Winona 73-46 and plays Faribault at 8:15 p.m. in the other semi-final game in Rochester.
