The Faribault Lakers defeated the Prior Lake Mudcats 8-4 last night at Bell Field.  Tyler Francis picked up the win, allowing 3 runs over 7 innings.  He struck out 4, walked 3 and hit 2 batters.  Porter Sartor threw the final two innings giving up a run on 2 hits, struck out 3, walked 2.

Francis threw 105 pitches, 70 for strikes.  Sartor 42 pitches with 28 strikes.

Line totals were 8 runs 6 hits 0 errors for Faribault and 4 runs 9 hits 3 errors for Prior Lake.

Isaac Saad took the loss for the Mudcats throwing the first 6 innings, 7 runs allowed, 3 earned, 5 walks, 0 strikeouts, 1 hit batter.  Saad threw 103 pitches, 55 strikes.  Jackson Kesler pitched the final two innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run while striking out 3, walking 2.  He threw 38 pitches, 22 strikes.

Both teams scored 2 runs in the first inning.  The Lakers added 3 runs in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th inning before Prior Lake added a run in 7th.  Faribault gained a run in the 8th and the Mudcats scored a run in the 9th.

At the plate Blake Langerud had 2 hits including a double and walked twice while scoring 2 runs.  Joey Grote added 3 hits, 2 RBI and scored twice.  Porter Sartor walked twice with 2 RBI, Mitch Johnson scored twice and had a hit.  Mike Carpentier collected an RBI.

The Lakers travel to Webster Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. game.

Prior Lake had 3 doubles in the game.  Corbin Cross hitting third in the lineup had one and finished with 2 hits, 2 RBI.   Cole Bjorge collected 3 hits including a double.

The Mudcats host St. Benedict 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

In other area amateur baseball action the Dundas Dukes defeated the Rochester Royals 5-3.  Both teams had 8 hits and 2 errors.

The Dukes scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back adding 2 more in the 4th and another in the 8th inning.  Rochester achieved a run in the 3rd and 2 more in the 7th.

Gabe Pilla was the winning pitcher.  Alec Holcomb earned a save.

At the plate the Dukes were led by Nate Van Roekel with 2 hits, 2 RBI.  Kenyon-Wanamingo graduate Drew Sathrum also collected 2 hits and an RBI for Dundas.

Dundas is at New Market Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  The Royals host the Minneapolis Cobras 3:00 p.m. today.
