Faribault Man Fatally Stabbed By Woman Friday Morning
On Friday at 9:15 am, Rice / Steele 911 Center received an emergency call and dispatched Faribault Police, the Faribault Fire Department, and North Ambulance to an unknown medical at 1155 Willow Street, lot 33.
Upon arrival at 9:18 am, police determined that an adult male resident, later identified as Michael Bongers (age 52) had received a stab wound to his chest. An adult female present at the scene indicated they got into an argument and admitted to stabbing the male. The male was immediately removed from the scene and transported to Allina District One Hospital for medical treatment. The male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The female involved was removed from the scene and provided a statement to police. The family of the deceased male was notified of his death. The couple has a history of domestic violence incidents and were known to police. In today’s incident it appears drug use may also be a factor.
The female is being held at Rice County Jail on manslaughter charges as the case is active and ongoing and will be reviewed by the County Attorney’s office.
The Faribault Police Department also received assistance from the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in processing the crime scene. If you have information on this case please contact Sgt Matt Long.
Faribault Police Chief Bohlen stated in the press release that, “The incident is tragic in the fact that someone lost their life during a violent act and we hope to have a more complete picture as the investigation evolves. There is no risk to the general public.“
