Update: Faribault Prison No Longer In Lockdown
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says the lockdown at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Faribault has ended.
The lockdown began around 5:20pm on Tuesday night and lasted until about 7:00pm Wednesday evening.
The prison consists of a medium-security facility and a minimum-security unit outside the secured perimeter. The prison has a combined population of more than 2,000 men.
KSTP-TV reported earlier that the lockdown was in effect due to an ongoing investigation. Details about the nature of that investigation were not provided.
