On another sports note former Byron Bears boys basketball player Ahjany Lee announced on Twitter Monday he has committed to play at St. Thomas University in St. Paul.

Lee transferred to Totino-Grace in Fridley for his senior season this year taking his coach at Byron completely by surprise.

The Bears made it to the State Tournament in 2020 thanks in large part to the 6'9 Lee blocking shots in the middle.  He's very athletic, runs the floor extremely well.  The Bears defeated the Faribault Falcons in their playoff opener last March.

Lee was listed as a 4 star recruit by most recruiting services.

This is a big signing for St. Thomas because Lee had been courted by Minnesota and  Iowa in the Big Ten and Kansas in the Big 12.

His older sister Ayoka Lee was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year for Kansas State.  She is setting records galore there.  At 6'6 Lee became the first woman in the program's history to score over 20 points and collect 20 rebounds in a game.

Lee will be a junior this season and already has her undergraduate degree according to the Kansas State website page outlining her accomplishments.

She has a Psychology Degree and is pursuing her Masters in couples and family therapy.

Lee's first season ended with a torn ACL but she came back nicely for a monster redshirt freshman year.
