Myrtle, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rose creek man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Freeborn County Monday evening.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office said a motorcycle appeared to be traveling east at a high rate of speed on 145th street approaching the curve to go south on 890th avenue just east of Myrtle. The driver hit the brakes hard before entering the curve. The motorcycle crossed over the westbound lane and followed the curve until the motorcycle hit the east shoulder and flipped around 6:10 p.m.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 71-year-old Larry Helgeson of Rose Creek. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office said Helgeson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
