Faribault Falcon senior Megan Gehrke signed a national letter of intent today to attend the University of St. Thomas and participate in Track and Field.

Sitting with her Mom, Betsy at a table, all of Gehrke's high school coaches and the St. Thomas track coaches were in attendance at the ceremony at Faribault High School.

Her freshman sister McKenzie is the second from the left behind their Mom.

Gehrke participated in swimming, basketball and track and field at Faribault High School and contemplated participating in both swimming and track and field because she did excel at both.

Her St. Thomas coaches convinced her pursuing a neuroscience degree would be very difficult while participating in two sports so she chose track and field.

Gehrke has been named All-Conference four years in track and field and was All-State last season in the Discus and Shot Put.  She has been at the Hamline Elite Meet the past two seasons and made three trips to state.

Gehrke has broken two school records and a meet record in Mankato during past seasons and will be participating this spring in the sport.

In swimming and diving Megan has been All-Conference 5 years and All-State four years.  She has participated at the State Meet five years and been part of breaking five Faribault High School school records.

So you can understand how difficult a decision it was to choose one sport.

KDHL and POWER 96 wish Megan Gehrke the best in her academic and athletic endeavors at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Mn.
