If you're doing any flying out of Minnesota's biggest airport, get set to pay higher fees soon.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Bloomington is, of course, Minnesota's biggest airport. It's also routinely noted as one of the best airports in the country and was named the Most Outstanding Airport in North America earlier this year.

And now, MSP says its increasing fees in one area of that could hit you right in the checkbook, especially if you don't have a friend or relative to drop you off or you live outside the Twin Cities metro area and have to drive your own vehicle to the airport (as opposed to taking a cab, Uber or Lyft, which gets a little expensive if you live in Rochester or elsewhere in greater Minnesota.) That's because MSP says it will be soon increasing parking fees at its ramps and parking areas.

According to this KARE-11 story, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) which operates MSP approved the cost increases last month. The new pricing includes a $2 increase in daily parking fees at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 as well as the Quick Ride Ramp. And, there will also be a $5 increase per day for valet parking. These changes are set to go into effect in January 2023, the story said.

In case you're curious, MSP usually adjusts its parking rates every OTHER year, but is also increasing them again in 2023, KARE said, to 'keep up with inflation and other increased expenses.'

Hourly rates aren't set to change, and MSP does offer several different programs that can save you money if you are parking a vehicle at the airport while you jet off to someplace else.

For example, MSP's Prebooked Parking program not only guarantees you a spot in one of their ramps, but will also save you $2 a day when you pre-book your parking (at least 12 hours before you travel), according to the MSP website. You can get more information about all the parking options at MSP HERE.
