IBEW Union Local 110 is very involved in the Rice County Habitat for Humanity chapter and brings us today's AM Minnesota program.  Ken Kangas has been involved with the local chapter I believe since it's inception and will be joining us at 9:30 a.m.  There are two homes being built in Faribault currently and I'm sure they could always use more volunteers.

The homes are located at 715 Willow Street and 1004 Central Avenue.  Habitat started in Rice County building one home per year.  Then came two houses and now five are built each year in the county.  The Mahmed Ahmed family will inhabit the Willow Street house and is the largest family the Rice County chapter has ever partnered with to build.  There are 11 people in the family so a 6 bedroom home is being constructed.

It will be handicapped accessible because one of the family members uses a wheelchair.

We'll find out why Mr. Kangas has chosen Habitat as one of his volunteer endeavors and specifically discuss the partnership these family have with Habitat.  They aren't simply given a home.

If you can't listen this morning go to www.kdhlradio.com and the program will be included in this post by mid-afternoon typically.
