Hear Ace Frehley’s Cover of Thin Lizzy’s ‘Emerald': Exclusive Premiere
Ace Frehley fans get an early taste of his upcoming Origins, Vol. 1 covers album with this exclusive premiere of Frehley's take on Thin Lizzy's "Emerald."
As previously reported, Frehley is paying tribute to some of his favorite acts on Origins — a collection that, as he put it, revisits "stuff from bands that I grew up on and greatly influenced me." Artists covered by the former Kiss guitarist include Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix.
The album, due April 15 and available for pre-order now, also features a number of guest appearances from famous friends, including Slash (who contributed to "Emerald") and Frehley's former bandmate Paul Stanley, who chipped in on a cover of Free's "Fire and Water."
In addition to songs by some of his favorite artists, Frehley revisited his own back catalog for Origins, Vol. 1, recording new versions of the Kiss cuts "Parasite," "Cold Gin," and "Rock and Roll Hell." "I'm really thrilled with the whole thing," he told Rolling Stone. "I'm excited about it, and probably somewhere down the road there'll be a second volume."
Frehley is supporting Origins, Vol. 1 with a round of tour dates that's currently scheduled to continue through mid-April. Visit his official site for ticketing information, including details of special VIP packages that include meet-and-greets where Frehley is signing fans' guitars.
Next up for Frehley is further work on his next memoir, which he told Las Vegas Magazine that he hopes to finish before the end of the year. "I’m always writing notes down, because during the course of the day invariably a story will pop into my head that I have to jot down on a piece of paper so I won’t forget it, because there’s just so many stories," he said. "I’ve lived such a colorful life I could probably write five books."
