Historic Faribault Farmer Seed & Nursery Building Sale Is ‘Pending’
Well, it appears that the Farmer Seed & Nursery building in Faribault may potentially have some new residents/life soon. The building which has been listed as for sale shows online that the sale is pending. To whom, isn't known, but hopefully whoever is buying the building will keep it in some form or fashion.
As far as the building itself, it is listed on the National Historic Register and was built in 1920. The sale price for the building was listed as $497,000.
The listing online states that the sale is 'pending', and I reached out to G&H Property Management yesterday for comment on the pending sale, and what could be divulged as in what the plans for the building may be. I haven't heard back yet, but when I do I will make sure to update this.
I'd love to see the building/space turned into something like what Waseca has done with The Mill Event Center, where there are multiple rooms for venues, and they preserved some windmills to use at the ceiling fans. Just really cool, you can see pictures here of the inside.
I know Faribault has an event center downtown, but this one could be another option for folks to use, and there would be plenty of space to make the building what you want.
I would hate for it to simply be torn down and made into a parking lot, or something else. The history of the business and building are tied to the community, even though the business moved to an online sales model and closed the building in 2018.
