As Minnesotans, we all know that the three months that are summer drive a majority of what we do for fun. Whether it be camping, visiting the lake, taking road trips or maybe catching a game at Target Field to see the first-place Minnesota Twins play.

Either way, June, July, and August are one of the most beautiful time of the year across the state. Which brings the questions, how is Minnesota not #1 when it comes to the best states to road trip in during the summer?

In the latest study from Wallet Hub, those who are looking to take a fun summer road trip should first check out North Carolina, then Wyoming, followed by the land of 10,000 lakes in the third spot.

Minnesota had a pretty good standing in the study, coming in at #3 in safety rank as well 19th in activities. Not only is Minnesota safe, but it is also full of stuff to do.

So how isn't Minnesota number 1? Well, cost definitely had something to do with it, as Wyoming was #1 in cost and North Carolina was #9 (Minnesota was #25). It might not be as cheap, but the views and activities make up for it!
