Northern Minnesota Bracing For Another Round Of Wildfire Smoke This Week
If you thought we were in the clear from wildfire smoke, think again. It looks like smoke will return to the Northland this week, and even that might not be the last of it just yet.
You already know by now there are several fires burning in northern Minnesota right now and as a result, we have seen extremely heavy wildfire smoke in our neck of the woods. Areas closer to the fires had it even worse than we did in Duluth.

The smoke first appeared in mid-July and was so bad at one point that Duluth had the worst air quality in the world. That just puts things into perspective of just how rough things were in terms of the smoke.
Several events were postponed or cancelled, with things finally clearing up later that weekend. However, more smoke was never out of the question after that. Now, it has returned to the forecast.

Smoke Returns To The Forecast For Northern Minnesota This Week
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency shared an updated smoke forecast on Monday (July 27th), writing that smoke will head east into Minnesota to kick off the week and will linger through Tuesday. This may bring smoke to our region.

The good news is that all of the state is expected to remain in the 'moderate' zone throughout the first few days of the week. That's great news considering we were in the 'hazardous' category for quite awhile, but still not great, especially for those with breathing issues.

Our best chance for smoke in northern Minnesota will be Wednesday, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's forecast. Skies are expected to be hazy for the first few days of the week regardless because of 'denser smoke aloft' in the atmosphere.

Fires aren't entirely contained and won't be for some time, so it's natural that we will be seeing more wildfire smoke in the days to come. It likely won't be as bad as it was earlier this month so that is good news. Take care of yourself!
