Harold’s Hogfest Returns To Carlton This Saturday
It's that time of year again, and my mouth is already watering. Harold's Hogfest returns to the Carlton VFW on Saturday, September 12th. It's an annual fundraiser to help the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Over the years, Harold and his family have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help fight childhood cancer.
You can do your part, and it's not a big ask! Show up with $10, and you'll get a delicious meal that includes fresh-cooked pork, Ray Schmitz's famous beans, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, dinner roll, and dessert. Kids 5 and under eat free!
It takes place from noon to 4 at the Carlton VFW, 124 Chesnut Avenue in Carlton. If you can't make it, there are also to-go meals and local delivery available. Just call Tara at 218-348-4492.
This event wraps up a series of fundraisers put on by the group I affectionately call "The Carlton Crew." Community members recently came out in large numbers for Harold's Golf Fiasco, which raised over $33,000 this August.
The Ankrum Family went on with Harold's Fiasco, even after having to say goodbye to Harold's wife, Cheryl Ankrum, who passed away after a courageous fight with cancer. The family sends a heartwarming thank-you to everyone who came out to honor Cheryl, who worked tirelessly at events over the years to raise money for cancer research.
