One of Minnesota’s biggest stars is now being used to encourage the public to visit the library with a new limited-edition library card.

The state’s largest library system forged a partnership with the estate of Prince and Paisley Park for the new Prince library card. The card is now available for new and existing patrons of Hennepin County Library, but only while supplies last.

One of Minnesota’s biggest stars now helps promote library visits

The card features an iconic photo of Prince from the Purple Rain era, playing guitar in his signature purple jacket. The card is available at any of the 41 Hennepin County Library locations.

The Hennepin County Library says the cards are available to new patrons, and for those who already have a card and want to exchange it for this new limited-edition Prince version.

In a press release about the card, the library suggests ways to use it to learn about music, from checking out books, listening to Minnesota-made music via the MNspin streaming service, reserving time in the vinyl or piano room, or even making music in their studio spaces.

If you’re simply a fan who wants a card, you’ll need to either live, work, or own a business in Hennepin County to be eligible to get one on your own, or find someone who does and have them help you out.
