We are less than 2 weeks into 2025, so it's not too late to take a look back at what the top Google searches for Duluth were for last year, and you'll likely be surprised by them.

Google Trends offers timely and historic data about what people are searching for, and looking back at 2024, it seems like people were looking for distractions.

Two of the top 5 were games, one was a marijuana dispensary, and the other two are mostly likely what people were looking to be distracted from, the election.

#5 - Duluth Loves Crafting Items With Words

Infinite Craft was the #5 most trending search of 2024 for Duluth, and I had no idea what this was, so I too Googled it, and discovered that it is a game.

The game uses AI to combine words to craft new elements, for instance, combining the word fire and water produces steam, combining lava and water makes stone, eventually the combinations get more elaborate and quirky, and can lead to a pretty fun time.

#4 - Duluth Likes Taking Road Trips to Irownwood, MI

The #4 most searched thing in Duluth for 2024 was High Profile, a marijuana dispensary located in Ironwood, MI. The dispensary is one of many that have popped up in the small Michigan town.

A good majority of the dispensaries in Ironwood serve Minnesota and Wisconsin residents that can't get legal THC products in their own states, so make the short drive to the border town to stock up. Warning, using number 4 and 5 together, might lead to some serious couch lock.

#3 & #2 - This is What Sent Duluth to #1, #4 and #5

The third and fourth most Googled term are related, "Election Results" and "Kamala Harris", and like I mentioned earlier, this may have driven people into games and marijuana to forget about it all.

And while I originally thought the #1 most searched term was related to the dispensary search, some research schooled me that in was in fact not related. Instead, it was another game.

#1 - Duluth Can't Get Enough Word Searching

"Strands" is a game from the New York Times that was released in March 2024, and much like their other game Wordle, Strands is a daily word search game in which you can form words in multiple directions, not just vertical and horizontal.
