Most of us in the Twin Ports who enjoy the Northern Lights can't just hop on a plane to Norway, Alaska, or Sweden to see them.

We of course know that you don't have to go that far in order to witness some glorious displays.  Thankfully with the internet and social media, when it's a great night to get out and see them, it's a decently popular topic and it's a lot easier to not miss them than back in the day.

For those interested in learning more about the Northern Lights, and how to maximize your chances of catching them, there is a great upcoming information session.

Free to attend, Northern Lights for Newbies will talk about how and why they occur and what sources to trust for getting information on seeing them when it's prime time.

On Friday, February 23rd from Noon-1:30PM a local wildlife and night sky photographer will be hosting the session at the Sax-Zim Bog Visitor Center.  It's not that far from the Duluth and Superior area and it is actually a great area to sometimes catch the Northern Lights.

Even if not for you, we all know someone on a quest to catch the Lights when they are at their best, so spread the word so others can learn more and hopefully have a better chance of seeing them without having to travel far.
