LOOK: Tame Upset Tummies Full of Candy With This
Tis the season for spookiness and binging sweets. Some of us always celebrate, while others limit it to one day. What a shame for them.
Stomachs that aren't tempered in the blazing fires of confection obsession can get upset after eating too much candy...sometimes, they can get downright cross. There's an easy way to douse that fire in your innards; and if you're German, you probably already have it in your fridge.
If You Eat Too Much Candy, Try Getting Fermented
It sounds gross (to me, because I hate sauerkraut), but eating fermented foods can counteract the havoc wreaked on your stomach by all of that candy you (or your kids) just scarfed down.
It works because that candy has jacked the bacteria in your stomach and unbalanced your gut's microbiome (as in the good bacteria). Fermented food like sauerkraut can be like a Food Jedi and bring balance to the Force (of your stomach's microbiome).
If you or your kids are not central European-enough to throw back some sauerkraut right after throwing back a metric ton of Halloween candy, there are fermented alternatives to sauerkraut, like:
- yogurt
- kimchi
- kombucha
- pickles
- apple cider vinegar
- cottage cheese
- real sourdough bread
There's a bunch of Health Nut Mumbo Jumbo Jargon involved with explaining the reasoning behind fermented food yinning candy's yang in your stomach.
Just tell your kids, "trust me!", while they hork down sauerkraut and you chug apple cider vinegar.
