The road will not be closed to through traffic throughout the project, however lane closures could occur during construction. Flaggers would be present to direct traffic when the road is reduced to a single lane.
Multi-Month Resurfacing Project Starts Next Week on 3rd Ave. SE in Rochester
The project is occurring on 3rd Ave. Southeast/Olmsted County Rd. 146. The work zone spans from South Broadway Ave. to Hwy. 14/12th St. Southeast.
Construction crews will resurface the roadway and change the existing lane configuration to one lane in each direction. The newly surfaced road will have a center lane dedicated for left-hand turns for both directions of traffic upon completion of the project, a news release says.
Crews will also modify the traffic signal that controls the intersection of 3rd Ave. and 16th St. Southeast. Minor curb and sidewalk replacements are planned during the project as well.
Officials say the work is scheduled to be completed by June 15. The news release does not say which day crews will begin working next week.
The Olmsted County Department of Public Works is reminding drivers to travel with caution, never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones, reduce speed and cautiously proceed through work zones.
