Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department is reporting a tragic ending to a missing person case.

On January 26, police issued a missing person alert for 28-year-old Feroza Sherzai.

A post on the Rochester Police Department’s Facebook page said at the time that she was seen on foot in the area of Hwy. 63 and County Rd. 16, which is near the Rochester Airport, around 4:30 p.m. on January 17. 

Investigators believed she was attempting to travel to the State of Virginia.

Rochester Police: Body Found in Wooded Area Near Rochester Airport Identified as Missing Woman

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says a woman’s body was found in a wooded area near the Hwy. 63 and County Rd. 16/Hwy. 30 interchange on Saturday. 

The deceased woman was identified as Sherzai. 

Grayson says the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine Sherzai’s cause of death.

Police say there is no indication of foul play and no known threat to the public. 

The Rochester Police Department is extending their condolences to Sherzai’s loved ones.
