High Bail Set for Downtown Rochester DWI Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man has been charged in a felony DWI case.

It stems from a traffic stop that occurred in downtown Rochester shortly before 9:00 Tuesday night.
A Rochester police officer, who was on patrol, stopped the vehicle reported seeing multiple traffic violations along 3rd Ave. Southwest, according to the criminal complaint.
Smell of Burnt Fentanyl Leads to Arrest of Rochester Man
The officer recognized the vehicle as one that was registered to 43-year-old Jesse Wayne Schoenwetter, who has a canceled license- inimical to public safety.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the odor of smoked fentanyl. Schoenwetter then underwent field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest following the test, according to the court document.
He had a glass pipe in his pants and the officer also found drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle, the complaint says. Schoenwetter submitted a urine sample for testing once he was in custody.
Court records indicate Schoenwetter has five impaired driving incidents that occurred between July of 2023 and this past April.
He’s charged with first-degree DWI and is being held on $100,000 bail without conditions. Schoenwetter is due back in court later this month.
