Freeborn County Sheriff: Son Who Attacked Parents & Brother With Metal Pipe Shot and Killed by His Father

In the early stages of the investigation, authorities learned that Dave and Sheri had a restraining order against Joshua. A news release issued on Wednesday indicated that Joshua was illegally at Dave and Sheri’s home on the day of the deadly shooting

Freeborn County Sheriff Ryan Shea said Joshua attacked his mother with a metal pipe when she tried to enter an outbuilding he was hiding in. He then attacked his father with the pipe when he went to Sheri’s aid.

Joshua is alleged to have struck his parents multiple times with the pipe before hitting his older brother with the blunt force object, the news release says.

Joshua took Jason to the ground and began repeatedly punching his older brother in the face. Dave then shot his younger son, Jason got up and called 911, the news release says.

Sheri also called 911 and returned to the house to check on two children. The children were uninjured.
