Mason City, IA (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northeastern Iowa are searching for the cause of a house fire that claimed the lives of four children Wednesday morning.

The Mason City Fire Department reported that fire crews responded to the blaze around 5 AM. When they arrived at the scene, the firefighters could see flames on the first and second levels of the house.

A news release identified the victims as 12-year-old John Mcluer, 10-year-old Odin Mcluer, six-year-old Drako Mcluer, and three-year-old Phenix Mcluer. A 55-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl survived the fire and were taken to the Mason City Hospital for treatment of burns.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office has been asked to assist in the investigation.
