Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Grand Jury has returned a first-degree murder indictment against a convicted murderer who allegedly murdered his girlfriend on Christmas day in 2022.

County Attorney Mark Ostrem today announced the indictment against 39-year-old Mustafa Bush. The indictment charges the Rochester man with two counts of first-degree murder. One of the counts alleges the killing of 41-year-old Kimberly Robinson was premeditated and the other involves a pattern of domestic violence. Bush also faces a single count of second-degree murder in the case.

If convicted of either of the charges contained in the indictment, Bush would face an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of release. The indictment replaces the original complaint, which charged Bush with second-degree murder.

Bush was arraigned on the new charges today in Olmsted County Court. His bail remains set at $3 million. His next court appearance is scheduled on January 30 and his trial is tentatively scheduled for late October.

Bush is accused of fatally shooting Robinson on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in 2022. He then allegedly dumped her body in the ditch along a rural northwest road on December 26.

According to the charges, investigators learned that Bush had been living with the victim at a residence in southeast Rochester during the two years leading up to her murder. The court document also says she was last seen alive in his company on Christmas Eve or the early morning hours of Christmas Day in 2022.

Bush was previously sent to prison for killing a Rochester man in 2006.
