Kenyon Man Avoids Trial With Guilty Plea in Child Porn Case
Kenyon, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Kenyon man has entered into a plea agreement involving multiple child pornography charges in a case that was scheduled to go to trial in early July.
7 Charges Dropped
Goodhue County court records show that 32-year-old Joshua Marc Lyon was charged in February 2025 with eight counts of possession of child pornography. Under his plea agreement, he has admitted to one of the charges in exchange for the dismissal of the other seven felony counts.
BCA Cyber Tip Led Investigators to Kenyon Residence
According to the criminal complaint, the charges stem from a cyber tip received by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension concerning several accounts on the Kik messaging app that were associated with uploads of child sexual abuse material.
Search Warrant Uncovered Hundreds of Illegal Files
The court document indicates the BCA agent assigned to the case was able to link the accounts to Lyon and later obtained a search warrant for his residence. That led to the seizure of computers and other electronic devices that were found to contain approximately 1,500 suspected child pornography images and videos.
The criminal complaint lists eight specific examples of images and videos that depict the sexual abuse of children as young as 2 to 3 years old.
Probation Recommended
Under the terms of his plea agreement, Lyon is expected to be sentenced to probation with no jail time. With a presumed criminal history score of zero, Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines call for a stayed prison sentence of 24 months.
Lyon is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
