Millville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A welcome sign is a staple of small towns throughout Minnesota.

In one town in southeast Minnesota, the sign welcoming motorists has gone missing. Law enforcement has now gotten involved and is seeking public assistance. 

Nestled in the Bluffs along the Zumbro River, the small town of Millville is home to 152 residents, according to the 2020 Census. It's in Wabasha County, about 30 miles northeast of Rochester

In the summertime it’s a popular spot for tubers cooling off while floating down the Zumbro River. 

It’s also listed as the home of the Spring Creek Motocross track, which hosts more than a dozen events from May-November, including a national event.

The town also brought back its annual festival, known as Millville Valley River Days, in 2016. The event occurs during the second weekend in August. The town’s festival is advertised on the sign that is now missing. 

Welcome Sign Stolen from Milleville, MN, Public Assistance Sought

Authorities believe the sign was stolen sometime between Jan. 12 and Jan. 13. 

Photos of the theft scene, which are posted on the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page show the sign was ripped off of wooden support posts. A dollar value for the sign is not available.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the theft to call the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office anytime at (651) 565-3361.
