Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Today is precinct caucus day in Minnesota.

The neighborhood political meetings mark the beginning of the election season in Minnesota, as those attending the sessions begin the process of endorsing candidates for seats in the state Legislature and statewide elected offices. The November election ballot in Minnesota will include every seat in the Minnesota House and Senate, along with governor and other constitutional offices.

Political parties also use precinct caucuses to assemble the “planks” that become party platforms adopted at state conventions later this summer.

Locally, the Olmsted County Republican Party will hold caucus meetings at seven sites:

All caucus meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

After having spent the greater part of the last three weeks outside Minnesota, it has been great to be back. We live in a very beautiful part of the country. From the North Shore's jagged cliffs to the rolling croplands of southern Minnesota and to the driftless area near Preston, our state is filled with beautiful sights.
