
Man Wanted for Rochester Walmart Shooting & Carjacking Captured in Twin Cities
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The man who was wanted in connection with a shooting outside of a Walmart store and a carjacking in Rochester has been captured.

Two arrest warrants were issued in April for 25-year-old Abdulahi Mohamed Abukar.
One charged him with first-degree carjacking, aggravated robbery and fifth-degree assault. The other warrant charges him with two counts of drive-by-shooting and a count of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of violent crime.

Abukar is accused of committing the crimes while awaiting sentencing in an assault case in which he was accused of breaking into an apartment and robbed the resident at knife-point, according to court records.
Sheriff's Deputies & U.S. Marshals Capture Suspect in Walmart Shooting and Carjacking Cases
On Wednesday, the Rochester Police Department announced that Abukar was captured by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service in Columbia, Heights, MN on Tuesday.
Olmsted County Jail records indicate he was booked into the jail shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Walmart Shooting
Abukar is accused of opening fire on an occupied vehicle outside the Walmart North store on the night of March 23.
One of the bullets struck the vehicle and the other hit the outside of the building near the store entrance, the criminal complaint says. No injuries were reported.

Court documents say Abukar was assaulted by a group of five people in a hallway in the ValleyHigh Flats apartment on March 22.
Police suspect the shooting was in retaliation for the assault.
March 22 Carjacking
Abukar is alleged to have committed the carjacking on March 22. The complaint in that case says the carjacking victim was not involved in the apartment complex assault case.

Court records also show Abukar served an 18-month prison sentence for a felony assault conviction in Olmsted County in 2019.
Abukar is due to appear in court Wednesday morning.
