Update: Shots Fired, Children Involved in Lewiston Standoff Arrest

Lewiston, MN (KROC-AM News)- A situation described by law enforcement as an “active incident” prompted a shelter in place order in a small southeast Minnesota town overnight.

Very little information is available, however the large law enforcement presence had gathered late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Multiple agencies were at the scene in the Winona County town of just over 1,500 people, including a SWAT Team.

The incident occurred in Lewiston. The Lewiston Police Department published a Facebook status at 11:59 p.m. asking residents in the area of the 50 block of Benson Dr. to shelter in place.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were gathered in the area including Winona County’s SWAT Team, which is known as the Winona County Emergency Response Team.

The late-night announcement issuing the shelter in place order indicated the scene was secure.

The small town’s police department took to social media again to issue the all clear shortly before 2:20 Tuesday morning.
