
No Travel Advisory Lifted in Southeast Minnesota, Preliminary Snowfall & Crash Totals are in
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Travel conditions are starting to improve across southeast Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has lifted its no-travel advisory for the Rochester area.
MnDOT indicates the major roads in the Rochester area are completely covered with ice and compacted snow.
Interstates Reopen As Road Conditions Improve in Southeast Minnesota
The closures impacting I-35 south of Albert Lea and I-90 west of Albert Lea have been lifted, however travel is not advised west of Albert Lea as of 10:30 Monday morning.
Hwy. 247 remains closed between Hwy. 63 and Plainview due to blowing and drifting snow.
RPT Resumes Service, 6th St. Reopens
The City of Rochester has announced Rochester Public Transit service has resumed. Officials say some routes are still impacted due to winter weather.
City officials also announced that 6th St. SW has reopened. The road was closed Monday morning due to vehicles getting stuck between 8th and 10th Aves.
Roads in downtown Rochester are down to a single lane in each direction Monday. Operations to remove the snow piled in the middle of those streets are expected to begin Monday night, a news release says.
NWS Takes 25-Inch Snowfall Report in Southeast Minnesota
Preliminary snow totals are trickling into the National Weather Service Monday morning. The new totals include the snowfall Sunday night into Monday morning.
The largest snow total recording in Rochester is 17.1 inches along 55th St. NW east of Hwy. 52. 12.4 inches was measured at the Rochester Airport as of 1:00 Monday morning.
18.8 inches fell in Douglass Township northwest of Rochester, 17.5 inches fell in Oronoco, 18.5 inches were reported in Mazeppa.
The largest snow total reported as of 10:30 Monday morning was in Kellogg where 25 inches fell.
Hundreds of Crashes on MN Roads Despite No Travel Advisories
Despite the issuing of no travel advisories, the State Patrol still responded to hundreds of crashes.
On Sunday troopers responded to 464 property damages crashes statewide. 40 of those crashes involved injuries and one crash was fatal. Information regarding the deadly crash has not been released.
Troopers also responded to 46 spinouts, 651 vehicles off the road and 19 jackknifed semis.
