Stolen Gun & Vehicle Recovered Amid Investigation of Rochester Teens
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police are reporting the arrest of a teenager and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and gun after executing several search warrants Thursday.
A news release issued by the police department Friday afternoon says officers served seven knock-and-announce search warrants in northwest Rochester. Lt. Jennifer Hodgeman said Friday the warrants were served as part of an ongoing effort by police to disrupt violence among two rival groups of teenagers.
As a result of the searches, officers seized a stolen vehicle, stolen gun and materials used to make ghost guns including a 3D printer, computer, tool kits and gun parts. The news release says police executed the warrants at the following locations:·
- 2000 and 2100 block of 43rd Street NW
- 5800 block of Baron Lane NW
- 2400 block of 59th Street NW
- 5100 block of Lexington Lane NW
- 1100 block of 41st Street NW
A 16-year-old boy from Rochester was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a weapon, person under 18 and possession of stolen property. as a result of the searches. Police say several other juveniles are expected to face charges in the coming weeks.
The news release did not indicate where the stolen gun, stolen vehicle and gun manufacturing materials were located.
Thursday’s searches and arrest come just over one week after officers reported recovering a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, blue laser and no identifiable serial number and a 12 gauge pump shotgun from a residence in southeast Rochester. Two teenage boys were taken into custody on suspicion of underaged firearm posession as a result of that search.
“We are committed to interrupting violence in our community and will continue to proactively target areas of concern,” Rochester Police Chief Jim Franklin said in a statement.
