Chicago has the perfect option for those looking to celebrate their birthday who also have places to be.

There might even be a sense of danger involved depending when your party starts.

Unique Chicago Party Venue

Sure, you and your friends could spend the day celebrating at Wrigleyville bars or do something more low key like a Chicago architecture tour.

But why not have your birthday party on the way to your destination?

The Chicago Transit Authority will actually charter an "L" train for you and your party guests to celebrate while on the move.

Yes, you can charter an entire CTA train like you would the party room at Chuck E. Cheese or the local VFW. Why aren't more people talking about this?

"By chartering a CTA train, the limits of your venue become the limits of the city itself," the CTA shared on its website.

How To Charter A CTA Train

The CTA estimates each "L" train car can comfortably hold 35 people. The key word here is "comfortably," as those who have experienced rush hour trains or post-Lollapalooza "L" rides know those cars can fit a whole lot more than just 35 riders.

You can even bring some party items with you to personalize your celebration. The CTA allows:

  • Food
  • Non-alcoholic beverages
  • Decorations
  • Battery-operated sound systems
  • Live music

Yes, you can have your favorite band play in your "L" train.

Prices to charter your own train from the CTA start at $3,563 and require a deposit. That amount increases depending on the length of the rental and how many people are going to be joining your private event.

If you're reading this as a regular "L" rider you're probably horrified at the idea of entire party could show up in the middle of your morning commute. The CTA has you covered.

CTA trains can be chartered any time of the day with the exception of heavy rider times during 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays.
