Dillon Double-Double Leads Bethlehem Academy to Victory
Despite a monster performance by Medford's Austin Erickson Friday night the Bethlehem Academy boys basketball team scored a 84-62 win at Van Orsow Auditorium in Faribault.
Hudson Dillon, junior, 6'2, scored 30 points with 12 rebounds, 3 assists for the Cardinals.
Trey Gaytan, senior, 5'11, added 21 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists. Aaron Huerta, junior, 6'2 tallied 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and Zach Donkers, senior, 6'1 chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals.
Erickson, senior, 6'2, paced the Tigers with 36 points, 14 rebounds while playing every second of the game. The only other Medford player in double figures was Connor Jones, senior, 5'10, with 12 points while playing the entire contest also.
Dillon and Gaytan played every second of the game as well. The Cardinals flew out to a 47-24 halftime lead. They dominated the glass with a 47-30 rebounding advantage in the game including 17 offensive rebounds.
BA shot 52% from the field with 5 three point baskets. Medford shot 34% with 9 threes but hit 24% of their three point attempts. The Cardinals were 29% from behind the arc.
Bethlehem Academy finished the game with 5 turnovers while the Tigers had 11 meaning points off turnovers was 10 to 2 in favor of the victors.
The Cardinals shot a dismal 5 of 13 from the free throw line while Medford was 9 of 10.
Head Coach Ed Friesen was very pleased with his team's 16 assists on 37 field goals. Medford finished with 7 assists on 22 field goals.
BA had 28 second chance points while the Tigers had 10.
The Cardinals host Kenyon-Wanamingo Tuesday. KDHL will be broadcasting the BA girls basketball contest in the K-W Castle Tuesday night. Coverage starts 7:00 p.m. if varsity game starts on time.
Medford boys host state ranked Maple River Tuesday with varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
