Glennville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A four-year-old boy was among two people severely injured in a crash involving a semi truck in southern Minnesota

He and the other critically injured person were riding in an SUV. The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. 

A total of five people were involved in the accident

4-Year-Old Boy Among Two With Life-Threatening Injuries After SUV & Semi Truck Collide on Hwy. 65 South of Albert Lea

The SUV and semi collided at the intersection of Hwy. 65 and 110th St., which is about 11 miles southeast of Albert Lea. 

Both vehicles were traveling north when they collided at the intersection, according to the state crash report. 

The four-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, and 53-year-old Sanjuana Renteria were identified as the critically injured passengers. Both are from Albert Lea.

The crash report indicates Renteria was taken to an Albert Lea hospital and the child was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

33-year-old Perla Janeth Garcia Renteria was driving the SUV. The Albert Lea woman and a third passenger, identified as 19-year-old Jazmyn Marie Rodriguez of Albert Lea, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol says. 

Rodriguez was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital while Janeth was taken to St. Mary’s in Rochester. No one in the SUV was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the state crash report says.

74-year-old Mark Eugene Byers of Austin was driving the semi. He was not hurt. 

The Glenville Fire Department, Albert Lea Fire Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Mayo Helicopter and Mercy One Helicopter also responded to the crash.
